About Sherry Johnston

Sherry was a contestant on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, Season 9, Pink Team with her daughter Ashley and their Finale’ was in May 2010.  She is a native of Knoxville, TN.  Sherry had been thin in her early adult life, weighing 102 graduating high school, 105 when she married, and 98 pounds after having children.  But after the death of her beloved husband of 18 years, Ken, she began to gain weight.  Life seemed overwhelming at times and she lost hope in many ways.  During this time, her health and weight spiraled out of control.  So when Sherry arrived at The Biggest Loser Ranch weighing 218 pounds, she had doubled in size.

Sherry was very successful on The Ranch as well as at home losing 99.5 pounds by Finale’ and placing 6th out of 22 contestants.  Sherry and Ashley’s combined percentage of weight loss was the highest of any team in Season 9.  Nicknamed “Lil Momma” by Jillian Michaels and the “last Mom standing,” Sherry continues to work hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle and live life to the fullest!

Being chosen for The Biggest Loser saved her life and changed her direction!  She is now a motivational speaker for churches, hospitals, businesses, expos, races, etc. encouraging and motivating others that they too can change their lives!  Sherry is also a consultant with Philips Respironics,  working on a Health & Wellness Life Coaching certificate as well as a fitness certificate.  She is an advocate for quality SLEEP, being a sleep apnea patient herself.  She now serves as the Public Member on the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).

The most memorable quote from her time on The Biggest Loser is “But what if YOU CAN…..”   (“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Phil 4:13 NKJV). With those words, she continues to challenge herself as well as others to consider the possibility that YOU CAN!
